Musicians from Key Stage 2 experienced playing a variety of instruments at Westpoint this week as part of Devon Schools Mix event. They watched other schools and professionals perform, attended an acapella workshop, beatbox workshop as well as watching Mrs Saunders perform in the Devon Teachers Rock Choir. A great day was had by all and a special mention must go to Mr Viney who demonstrated his beatbox ing talent! Well done to all those who took part and represented the school.

Robot Maths

E1 enjoyed using their measuring skills to attempt the Robot Challenge.  Each group were given 15 minutes to create their own Iron Giant with specific measurements using metre sticks, tape measures and team work!  All groups did well but the winners were …….Image

E1 investigate why the River Nile was so important to the Ancient Egyptians

E1 decided where they would like to live in their huts.  Did they want to be near the river, or away from it?  They discussed in their groups the reasons for their choices then were given seeds to grow.  They also had to decide how to use their crops – should they swap with neighbours or keep their own?  Should they buy cattle? What purpose would this have?

How could they trade their crops? Would a boat be useful to gain easy access to other parts of Egypt?

Lots of questions and discussion could be heard!

Paignton Zoo

What a great day we had! On Tuesday we went to Paignton Zoo. Mrs Gilbert liked seeing the giraffes munching their lunch, and having an ice cream because it was very warm! Which animal did you like seeing? What was your favourite part of the day?
